Horim Museum
Seoul, South Korea

This is a box decorated with symbols of longevity, which were widely used throughout different crafts during the late Joseon Dynasty. Bamboos, pine trees, phoenix, and deer are all rendered in a skilfully detailed manner. On the side there are chrysanthemums and butterflies, whereas on the rear side there are blossoms and birds. Other metal ornaments such as the side wrappers are in harmony with the mother of pearl.
