The water tank at Morro do Inglês, in Cosme Velho, had the capacity to store four million liters. It was completed in 1868 to receive water from springs reactivated by the reforestation of the Tijuca Forest – such as the Silvestre spring – and distribute it to homes in Laranjeiras and Cosme Velho.
