Lake Turkana Expedition - crossing the Omo River, Ethiopia. In 1980, Kenya’s renowned photojournalist, Mohamed (Mo) Amin headed north on a groundbreaking expedition into the interior. His destination was the shores of Lake Turkana where man’s ancestors took their first, faltering footsteps more than two million years ago in what is now known as the cradle of mankind. It took Mohamed Amin months of preparation, including protracted negotiations with the Ethiopian authorities in Addis Ababa, to get permission to circumnavigate the Lake.
