Lama Gangchen Rinpoche is overlooking his monastery in Italy located in the World Heritage Site of Gifa - Sacri Monti of Piedmont and Lombardy surrounded by the ancestral landscape of Lake Maggiore forest and Val Grande Biosphere Reserve. Lama Gangchen Rinpoche was head of the spiritual lineage NgalSo Ganden Nyengyu, which was brought to Europe from Tibet and which was founded by the great Lama Tsongkhapa in the fourteenth century. He came to Ghiffa and recognized it as a sacrad site and founded his monastery there. In 2003 the site was declared UNESCO World Heritage Site. His work is promoted by the Lama Gangchen World Peace Foundation, a Non Governmental Organisation associated with the United Nations Department of Public Information.
