Lamentation over the Dead Christ in the Chapel of Sancti Spiritus

Fresco painting set in the arcosolium of the tomb of Alonso Sánchez de Moscoso, in the Chapel of Sancti Spiritus. It depicts a Quinta Angustia following the typical scheme:the Virgin is at the centre of the composition, holding the smaller body of Christ, who appears to be asleep in her lap. The scene is set against a starry background, characteristic of Hispano-Flemish painting, while the intrados is decorated with vegetal motifs formed by paired, mirrored dolphins and birds.
