Wijnants is one of the founders of the great dutch school of landscape. His interest in it is not focused on imaginary and artificial representations, as the taste of many contemporary Dutch painters, it attracts more realistic interpretation based on the daily nature of the environment. In bright light, the solitude of a wooded area, the dunes or a dead tree can reach a high degree of perfection thanks to their observational data and a precious finish (we can observe in detail detailed vegetation). In his works animals and figures that are due to other painters who work with him (Lingelbach, Adrian van de Velde, Philippe Wouwermann, etc.) appear.
