Often made of silk fabric and decorated with embroidery, fan pouches are used to protect fans from abrasion when carried by the owner during outing. An exquisite tape is usually attached to fan pouches, convenient for fan owners to tie them to their waist belts.
On the black foundation of this pouch, a picture of crane and peach blossoms, both auspicious tokens for longevity in the Chinese culture, were embroidered in blue alternating white. Its ruyi-shaped opening is also embellished with floral patterns on a green ground. The opening, together with the other three edges, was hemmed with gold threads.
