Latin treatises on Polish history

The collective edition of three Latin treatises by Szymon Starowolski. It contains the following treatises: 1) Polonia ; 2) Sarmatiae bellatores; 3) Scriptorum Polonicorum hecatontas. All three works had separate title pages and could be sold separately. J. J. Korn added a common title page and a page with a dedication to the King and his wife Maria Josepha to the 1734 issue presented here, prepared to celebrate the anniversary of the King August III Sas’ election. The edition contains two maps – of the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Kingdom of Prussia, which were reprinted from S. Starowolski’s “Polonia”, published by Herman Conring in Wolfenbüttel in 1656. The first map, entitled “Nova totius Regni Poloniae Magniq. Ducatus Lithuaniae...”, was probably drawn in 1652 by the French engineer Wilhelm le Vasseur de Beauplan. By publishing Starowolski’s works the Korns intended to establish relationships with Polish booksellers.
