Latrobe's rendering of a Goose Barnacle attached to a piece of shipwreck. In Volume Two, he writes in detail about the blurred line of animal vs. plant life. "The former can quit his residence, the latter is bound to the earth." The barnacle, however, is a "trifling exception."
