The figure is said to have been found in Bourges in 1902 during a demolition and has since been known as "the King of Bourges." Stylistically, it is based on the same type as a mid thirteeenth-century painted stone figure of Childebert in the Louvre, Paris. The crown may be a nineteenth century addition.
