This translation was completed by 1640, but before it could be published, the Irish Rebellion of 1641 had broken out. Bedell was imprisoned during the revolt, and died in 1642. The manuscript was saved by Bedell's friend Denis Sheridan, who later gave it to Narcissus Marsh, Provost of Trinity College Dublin, and founder of Marsh's Library where the work is now housed. With the assistance of the scientist Robert Boyle, Bedell's translation, shown here, was finally published in 1685.
