Leaping Walu Antelope Mask

Mimicking the gait of the antelope, the Walu mask leaps about, followed by Adyagi, a stinging insect. Dogon animal masks are regarded as “beings of the bush,” representing the world outside the village and symbolizing everything that is wild and beyond the control of man.
