Leather Shoe Mounted on a Wooden Foot

leather shoe, conserved and mounted on wooden foot (modern). When this shoe was found, William Tailford, the excavation foreman, went down to London with the shoe to the Clayton family bootmaker, who made the wooden foot specially for the shoe.
