A Sotho beaded leather belt. A girl would add the beads bought by her boyfriend on the beads. If she could write she might add romantic a message on it for him in much the same fashion as the Zulu love letters. These belts are not traditional but transitional just as the Zulu beaded waistcoats which emerged from the early mining days.
