TCD MS 1337 (formerly H 3. 18) consists of discrete gatherings, fragments and slips of vellum and paper, written in the 15th and 16th centuries. Many of the vellum segments were compiled and written by jurists in legal schools. These bundles of material were subsequently purchased and bound together by the Welsh antiquarian Edward Lhuyd (1660-1709). TCD MS 1337 is renowned for its abundance of legal tracts originally written in the Old Irish period, such as Uraicecht Becc and Críth Gablach, many of which are now the only extant copies. Moreover, the contents of this Sammelband reveal the jurists’ interests did not only focus on legal material, but also ranged over a wide variety of literary texts, poetry and glossaries, including for instance Aided Chon Roí, Immaccallam in Dá Thuarad and Dúil Dromma Cetta.
