Legislative gathering in the times of Casimir the Great

The Sejm - Polish Parliament

National gatherings, or more willingly convened by Casimir the Great - provincial gatherings (wielkopolskie and małopolskie), differed from those appearing at the end of the 14th century general sejms in that the knights present at them did not participate in the sittings, acting only as spectators or witnesses of judged cases. The presentation of the king and archbishop of Gniezno, holding the insignia of power - a long sceptre and a cross surrounded by magnates and bishops, reflects the specificity of the pre-sejm state assemblies and the functioning of the royal council. A homographic reprint from "Polish Rights of Kazimierz the Great and Władysław Jagiełło translated into Polish by Świętosław of Wocieszyn 1449" - a brief translation of the statutes (Wiślicki, Warcki, Jedlneńsko-Krakowski) from the "Puławy Code", made by Świętosław of Wocieszyn, the custodian of St. John's collegiate in Warsaw, commissioned by Duke Bolesław IV of Mazovia (ca. 1421-1454). A reprint and a short source introduction to the edition of sources by Joachim Lelewel (1786-1861) - Adam Piliński (1810-1887), graphic designer, reconstructor of old prints.
