James says: "Leon is a nurse in one of the new wards at the John Radcliffe that admits suspected Covid patients. He treats patients symptoms and his team plans their care depending on their condition and test results. Leon's face oozes kindness and I wanted that to come through in this portrait. I was also keen not to include any PPE so that Leon can keep this painting without it purely being a reminder of a difficult and harrowing time."
