Leopoldina Esterhazy

For the realization of this work the testimonies of the fundamental passages are still preserved: the preparatory drawings and the terracotta models. Princess Esterhazy: "Young with every beauty provided, with every grace adorned, and elegant Painter of countries ..", as Isabella Teotochi Albrizzi defined her, she is modeled while painting, sitting on a rocky boulder. There is naturalness. The work was commissioned in 1805 probably while Canova was in Vienna.
