About the Work: A surrealist, Matta was originally trained as an architect and was always preoccupied with the ideas of space, unseen universal forces and the relation between art and science. In Les Oh! Tomobiles Matta creates a dream-like setting that is eerily familiar yet fantastic. Strange, human-like figures ride blindly across a chaotic setting expressing Matta’s fixation on the idea that technological advances may eventually dehumanize us.
