Orphan of both parents, Lei Feng was raised and educated by the Party. He joined the People’s Liberation Army at a very young age and became a member dedicated to the study and practice of Mao’s teachings. His greatest desire was to be “a screw of the revolution which never rusts”. He died at the age of 24, victim of an accident and became a martyr. He left a diary later published for disclosure and study.
