Rudes, Beatrice A. [Carta] 1942 Oct. 2, New York, NY [para] Grace L. McCann Morley, New York, NY. [inglês][datilografado]
Dear Miss Morley,
Although I have no authorization to lend or sell any works by Portinari which I am keeping for him in this country. I feel certain that if Mr. Portinari were here he would be glad to comply with your request. Therefore I shake take it upon myself to do so. You see I am not an agent. As a friend I gladly offered to keep some of the exhibits until such time as it might be deemed safe to ship them back to Brazil.
There are 9 dry-points and 7 lithographs which I am shipping to you, as you suggest, by express collect. I am insuring them from $20. each although I have no idea whether this is the price Mr. Portinari would put on them. On that matter I wish you would deal directly with him. Mrs. Portinari reads and writes English fluently. Their address is Via Atlantica 228, Rio de Janeiro.
Should you fail to hear from them (sometimes they are off for months in their place in the country and none seems to bother about forwarding mail) or should there be anything further you think I sight be able to do, please let me know and I shall try to help.
Sincerely,
19 West 9 Street,
New York City
