Ms letter (3pp and envelope) dated 7 June 1944 and written by an Able Seaman serving in HMS BELFAST, containing a graphic description of the cruiser's role leading the naval bombardment which supported the D Day landings, together with the illustrated `Crossing the Line' certificate, dated 9 August 1945, presented to him in BELFAST and signed by her Captain (later Rear Admiral) R M Dick RN, with the names of additional places in the Far East visited by the ship during 1945 added in ink on the certificate.
