This letter was sent from Jamaica to Wales by Gifford Pennant, to his father, Edward Pennant of Bagillt, in 1664 to alert Edward of Gifford's recent decision to purchase land in Jamaica, and that he had taken up residence there. The land would go on to be used for sugar plantations, ran through the use of slave labor.
