Hochschild, Kathrine S. [Carta] 1940 Aug. 25, Eagle Nest, NY [para] Candido Portinari; Maria Portinari, [Rio de Janeiro, RJ]. [inglês][datilografado]
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Portinari
When I was in
New York City last week Mr. Barr told me that you planned to come to up for the opening of your show, and were sailing on Sept. 4th. I am writing these few lines to tell you how glad I am that you can both avail yourselves of this opportunity.
I am under the impression that you have many friends in New York; but if, however you would like me to meet you at the boat, or arrange to have someone meet you, to help you get settled etc., it can easily be arranged. If so, please send a cable to “WALHOC-NEW YORK” – which is our private cable address, or drop me a line by air immediately. I plan to be in the city that week anyway, and if do not hear directly from you, I shall keep in touch with the Museum of Modern Art.
When all excitement of your first impressions of New York has calmed a bit, Mr. Hochschild and I want to bring you up here to the country for about a week or 10 days of rest. Here we wear old sweaters & old clothes & get some quiet and fresh air, and you can see what upper N.Y. state looks like.
A bien tôt, and a good trip to you,
Cordially,
Kathrine S. Hochschild
(Mrs. Walter Hochschild)
