[inglês][datilografado] Dear Mr. Leao: We are working against time to prepare a Museum bulletin for the Portinari exhibition which we are going to show in New York early in October after it has been shown in Detroit. The bulletin is to be a joint publication with the Detroit Museum so we are working under pressure to publish it before the Detroit opening. Miss Florence horn, who is writing one of the two essays for our small catalog, tells me that she is sending her piece to you for criticism. May we take the liberty of asking you to look through a second essay, a copy of which I enclose? It was written by Mr. Robert C. Smith, whom doubtless you know as a member of the Hispanic Foundation of the Library of Congress. I am particularly anxious to have any criticisms you would make on the spelling of Brazilian names, etc., as well as any general corrections you may wish to make. We would not impose upon you in this way were it not for the fact that we are sure of your interest in Portinari. Would you please ask the Chicago University Press to return our Portinari before the endoof September? We trust that the painting lent to the Chicago Press by Madame Helena Rubinstein of New York can be returned also. Sincerely Browning P.S.
