This is a work by one of the greatest Spanish still-life painters of the 17th century, active in Madrid between 1628 and 1659. A contemporary of El Labrador, he takes from him the naturalistic recreation of the grapes, although he also depicts cakes and red ceramics, following the tradition of the still-lifes of Juan van der Hamen.
