The Lifeboat House was built in 1884 to designs by CH Cooke, the architect of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). Its construction was the result of a decision by the RNLI to provide stations on the Essex coast. The Lifeboat House was built by Everett and Son of Colchester at a cost of £487.10s. It became redundant in 1904 and is now (2019) the home of Walton Maritime Museum.
The Lifeboat House is listed Grade II.
