∙ Linking spot(2009) -Representation of the hectic everyday life and communication of contemporary man through a cartoon figure. ∙ Heart(2010)- Research of LED panel form∙ The eye(2009)- Animation on the memories of the Gwangju incident and its future through the image of the eye.∙ Wave(2008)- As the LED light tubes are embedded in the surface of a sculpture as undulating and winding waves, the work is able to display the images of sunrise and sunset in the form of motion pictures. Through utilizing LED material, the sculpture elevates the 2-D image into a 3-D image, and attempts to transform the illusion of the light into a concrete, tangible and sensible thing. The wavy sea is one that illuminates by itself, and the illumination exists everywhere the sea goes.∙ Thoughts on Light(2009)- 2009 ideas on light created by participation of citizens. ∙ Human Maze(2004)- In this work, I chose a labyrinth as a metaphor for the human mind. This psychic field makes a new territory, offering audience a passage over that complex fragility that conforms the being. The angle, shot from above, gives the viewer a god-like perspective on the maze and its captives. The boundaries of the maze, drawn in pencil on the floor where the video was shot, cannot be seen on the video. Instead, black tape was affixed to the projection screen in exact alignment with the pencil lines. The moving image is projected over a three dimensional cube, letting the audience interact with the piece.∙ Tide(2008)- When I think about nature in a psychological way, I came up with the idea for a project which I call TIDE. The aim of my video installation TIDE is to embrace the feeling of time embroidered together with memory. TIDE itself seemed to me appropriate for my purpose; the image of the sea, or the icon of the sea, appeared to me as a powerful representation of those rhythms, both psychological and biological. ∙ Fragments of Everyday Lives in Gwangju(2009)-In the exhibition space, I built a two-meter high observatory with montages of stereotyped Gwangju signboard and interviews with Gwangju citizens of diverse ages and backgrounds. The outlook of this observatory is similar to that of yesteryear’s “modernized Korean house” with its low-rise rooftop and jar-strewn terrace, which has disappeared in the process of urban development but was very prevalent in the seventies in korea. In the exhibition, you can mount on the observatory and you can look at other routes from there.∙ Taipei Life(2009)- Expression of the identity of another culture.∙ Scooter girl(2008)- Expression of the identity of another culture.∙ Brick Illusion(2004-2005)- I place the viewer under formless lens of an optical effect, which lead vision under suspicion of error, and places audience into that mesh that has follow the context of our time. We move and live in a world where the predominance of vision is occupying our everyday life, where we do not distinguish anymore the lie from the truth, the shadow over its projection. I represent here to be profoundly aware of the consequences of mass media, and its relation to art. As in the myth of Sisyphus, I place the artist in that futile, but visionary perspective of a voice, sometimes diluted by that external and perpetual noise of our era.∙ Rolling-existence(2006)- When I visited this gallery, this aisle was impressive. I wanted to have my work relevant with the aisle. The performer is rolling on the ground and the aisle leads to the Heo Baek-ryeon’s gallery. This work symbolizes the myth of Sisyphus who was rolling up with difficulty but had to tumble down when he runs into the wall like our life.∙ Heart(2004)- I had to make a project about that beat, that rhythm that accompanies us, that touches upon the passing and in which we can hear the sound of life. In this image we can see three layers that interrelate to each other as if one image was following the other image, as different ”selves” communicating to each other in a dance, but also in that struggle that inhabits us.∙ Alley(2005-2006)- With the rapid urbanization, community villages with long histories are vanishing. So, the author intended to evoke the forgotten past and memories of modern citizens through the episode videos of people encountered at a back alley. Especially, the audience of the gallery will enjoy the situation as if they are walking one corner of a village without walking at all. Through this work, the author tried to tell, “ Our life culture of keeping elderly and children is more valuable than others”.∙ Violence(2004-2007)- The relation with gravity and the concept of time was also present in my project Violence, in which I shot the passage over an imaginary Landscape. The screen let us see a horizontal line there are small pieces, soft containers. The action concentrates on the crossing of those feet, which are exerting pressure over the smallest pieces, which would collapse under the weight, and would let run another fluid out from the horizon. This red fluid has a viscous quality, which has a close connotation to a biological body. Violence is the crossing over an infinite horizon, in which the bisecting line makes clear the division between the upper part, which represents the power of time, and the lower part, which symbolizes mortality.
