Lime kiln

The abundance of limestone in the Serra de Tramuntana made lime production a thriving economic activity, as lime was used for construction, medicine, hygiene, thermal insulation, and disinfecting cisterns. To produce it, lime kilns were built, consisting of a large, circular pit lined with a thick stone wall.
