Lincoln has been immortalized in busts since he was elected President in 1860. Jo Davidson was born in 1883 in New York’s Lower East Side and studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Davidson became well known for his portrait busts, several of which are in the National Portrait Gallery and the U.S. Capitol collections.
