The Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association of New York (CCBA-NY) is one of the oldest organizations in Manhattan’s Chinatown. Founded in 1883, the CCBA-NY essentially played a governing role in the Chinatown community. To this day, the CCBA-NY still continues to serve the community which comprises Chinese New Yorkers. As declared in the CCBA-NY’s doctrine, the Association aims to facilitate the integration of Chinese and Chinese Americans into mainstream American society, by advocating for Chinese-American interests and promoting Chinese culture. In addition, the CCBA-NY provides social services like youth programs, English classes, and other educational and leisure activities to the Chinese community. Two of its components, the New York Chinese School and the Chinatown Daycare Center, provides educational services to children, focusing on teaching Chinese language and culture.
