Lion Hunt Scarab of Amenhotep III

Glazed steatite. New Kingdom, Dynasty 18, reign of Amenhotep III, 1386-1349 B.C. Amenhotep III issues a series of large scarabs recoridng and disseminating the achievements of his reign. This is one of a group with identical inscriptions. After the titles of the king and queen, it states "list of lions which his majesty brought down by his archery from year one of his reign to year ten: one hundred and two fierce lions"
