Robert Boyle wrote various wish-lists of experiments and scientific enquiries he wished to conduct throughout his life. This list includes various experiments with the air-pump or 'sealed receiver' which he had developed with Robert Hooke.
Some of the experiments were successfully conducted and the results published in the journal of the Royal Society, including ones in 'Relation between Light and Air' ('Phil. Trans.', 1668) (`Sealing up of rotten wood that shines' and `The sealing of faintly shining fish') 'Respiration' ('Phil. Trans.', 1670) (`The Sealing up of Insects') and `Of the Difficulty of Producing Flame without Air', experiment I, and `Of the Difficulty of Preserving Flame without Air', experiment I ('Flame and Air') of which we have manuscript descriptions in his personal papers at the Royal Society archives.
