Jin Zhaofang was born in Xiuning County, Anhui province, a modern artist skilled in commercial painting and picture poster. At the age 14, he became an apprentice at Shanghai Meifeng Printshop and self-studied painting during that time, which made him towards a path of independent creation. He was a member of Shanghai Artists Association, contributing writer of Shanghai Pictures Press. His well known work Xi Shi was republished many times, and printed more than 1,600,000 pieces. MuLanHuanXiangTu, co-produced with other 10 Shanghai artists such as Hang Zhiying, Xie Zhiguang, Jin Meisheng etc., received a wide response.
