The putto, made around 1470 for the villa of Careggi at the request of Lorenzo de' Medici, in 1557 was placed on top of the porphyry fountain realized for the first courtyard of Palazzo Vecchio. The bronze, extremely polished, shows a putto holding a dolphin in his arms; it was placed inside of the palace in the middle of the Twentieth century and substituted by a copy in the courtyard.
