- About Creator: Pedro Silva Souza (Rio de Contas, BA, 1966), in a statement made in 2008, said that he learned to make faces on his own when he was still a child, just by watching his older brother. According to him, the carnival in Rio de Contas is one of the best in Bahia because there are few places in the state that still have groups of masked people accompanied by wind bands playing old marchinhas. In addition to the masks, he makes puppets that measure up to 10 meters in height and are placed on carts that travel the streets of the town during the revelry. The materials Pedro uses are basically clay, cement, reused paper, glue made from tapioca gum and paint.
