The glass base of this Little Harry’s Night Lamp is one of 69,894 artifacts recovered during the Stage Four excavation of the Bishop’s Block site in Toronto, Ontario. It was found in Townhouse 3, which records state cycled through many occupants and served as a boarding house three separate times from 1875-1893. Based on its branding and small size, this oil lamp was intended for use as a night light in a child’s room. It measures just 4.5 cm in diameter and 4.1 cm to the top of the break.
