Liza Grobler was Social Fabric artist-in-residence exploring mohair. Following on from her residency, and having been introduced to geotextiles by Social Fabric, Liza made this work. It is a nest crocheted from mohair and a Kaytech geotextile which houses a musician. The work speaks of the environments textiles help create for us, whether clothing (traditional use of mohair) or the making of more human-friendly environment (geotextiles are used to line roads and mines). The title "Chrysalis" refers to both our vulnerability without such protection and our ability to create such architecture.
