Enrico Sartori enrolled at the age of 13 in the landscape school directed by Giuseppe Boccaccio, which since 1852 was directed by Luigi Marchesi. He devoted himself almost exclusively to the creation of rural subjects and for this reason he was called "the peasant painter".
