This horse bus was operated by the London General Omnibus Company (LGOC) from 1880-1911 on the route between Waterloo and Baker Street. It was the lightest and strongest vehicle of its type in the world and could carry 28 people at nearly 8mph. During the 1920s it was used as a riverside home on the banks of the Thames at a rent of 10 shillings (50p) a week. The name 'garden seat' comes from the forward-facing benches on the upper deck. During the 1920s this bus was used as a riverside home on the banks of the Thames. It was bought and restored by LGOC to take part in the Omnibus Centenary celebrations of 1929.
