Robert Winthrop White (1921-2002) was an American artist who was proficient in all media, but especially in sculpting. White was the grandson of architect Stanford White and taught for many years at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. His bronze sculpture, Long Island Plowman is on long-term outdoor display at the Long Island Museum and pays homage to the region’s agricultural heritage.
