To the right of the Long Panel, amongst other images, depictions of two elongated therianthropic figures (part human and part animal); these are some of the clearest on this panel. These beautifully detailed figures bend slightly forward, and one of them seems to be carrying what appears to be two antelope heads. Most therianthropes combine human and antelope features. Antelope therianthropes probably reflect Shaman’s relationship with the animal from which he derives his potency and after which medicine songs are named. A man may be said to possess, for instance, eland potency, elephant potency or gemsbok potency.
