This is an elegant sketch of a bird and flowers. It is one of the four hanging scrolls painted by Princess Tetsuko. She was the second wife of Tachibana Akikado (1755-89), an heir of the 7th lord of the Yanagawa domain. Akikado had once married a daughter of the Ii family, the lords of the Hikone domain. Thereafter, he married Tetsuko who was an adopted daughter of the Ii family.
