Son Jang Sup has made works of Minjung Art since the 1980s, based on his resistance to an absurd reality and an intense experience of history. With his own unique arrangement of the narrative, the artist painted a series of historical paintings and landscapes. From the 2000s on, his art world expanded into landscapes that equate individuals and nature. Looking Through History – 6 · 25 (1990) is a large painting with a width of about 4m, embodying events of contemporary Korean history and the natural history in one breadth of canvas.
