Edition subsequent to the first of 1799, it consists of 80 tables depicting, with grotesque expertise and aesthetics, a variety of vices and human superstitions widespread in the Spain of the time. The plates were made by the Spanish painter Francisco de Goya y Lucientes (Fuendetodos, 1746 - Bordeaux, 1828) with the aquatint and etching technique during the nineties of XVIII century. Each of them is accompanied by a caption that comments on the defect represented. In particular, the table El sueño de la razón produce monstruos (The sleep of reason generates monsters) was made in 1797 and appears as sheet no. 43 already in the 1799 edition. Cerruti also owned the complete edition of Los desastres de la guerra (The disasters of the war, 1863) and La tauromaquia (La bullfighting, c. 1816).
