Biennale Internazionale dell'Antiquariato di Firenze
Firenze, Italy

It is a very rare set made of gold, silver and precious stones. The frame surmounted by a royal crown, conceived as a royal manifesto of the French aristocracy. A typical example of objects made by the goldsmiths of the French court and specially made by the sovereign to be given to members of rank close to the king. Another example, but without earrings, looks very similar to the portrait of Louis XVI seen in a similar jewel showing Louis XVI and Maria Antonietta isoli: Gem Engraving 2008, n. 70 (cameo in sardonice, circa 1774).
