The CERN spiral readers (LSD): this type of equipment, used for measuring bubble chamber film, was initially developed at Berkeley and then built at CERN with certain improvements. The first spiral reader 'Castor' came into regular service at the beginning of 1970 followed two years later by 'Pollux'.
