The artist recreates a scene from his youth of local people congregating on a sala (pavillion) by a canal. One can apprehend the sense of pure unadulterated joy experienced by the desticulating crowd as the men share stories, the women go about their everyday chores, and children boisterously play. However, a senior monk in the background is angered by the rumpus and is on his way to put an end-probably only temporarily so-to it.
