NCTC-2883 Black-footed ferret mounted specimen. "Lucille" the black-footed ferret was discovered Wyoming after the species was thought to be extinct. The discovery of Lucille and then her colony in 1981 launched the species' recovery program, which includes a captive breeding effort that is still active today.
