Lugano monumental cemetery

The monumental cemetery of Lugano is located on Via Trevano, one of the city's main streets. It was planned by the architect Paolo Zannini and built between 1897 and 1899 to replace two previous cemeteries that had become inadequate due to the 'increase of population and the new urban planning. Works of well-known masters in sculpture of the time include those by Pietro Borsari.
